The regular season was a success, but the real challenge begins now, in the postseason. This Saturday St. Joseph Regional (6-3) takes on Red Bank Catholic (8-1) in the first playoff game of the year. St. Joseph Regional might be feeling good about this one after its surprising comeback last game.
St. Joseph Regional went up against DePaul Catholic last week. The St. Joseph Regional offense had a slow start and went into the break having scored six points. That left it at a 14 - 6 disadvantage. The offense took control in the second half, however, scoring 22 points. With its shocking comeback after the third quarter, St. Joseph Regional stole a 28 - 21 win from DePaul Catholic.
Meanwhile, Red Bank Catholic can now show off six landslide victories after its most recent game. It took its contest against Manasquan last week by a conclusive 41 - 19 score. Red Bank Catholic won its match by a margin much greater than the MaxPreps state rankings suggested.
While both teams are coming off of wins, only one will triumph this week. We'll find out soon enough who that will be.
